I remember my grandparents always saying it and it is SO true; the older you get, the quicker time passes. Yet another year is upon us; time to reflect, to start fresh, to be the best that you can be. Whether you are trying to kick a habit, start something new or change something about your way of living, bringing in the New Year with a yoga class is probably one of the best things you can do!
On Saturday January 3rd in York and Sunday January 4th in Portsmouth (both classes 4-6pm) I will be kicking off the annual Wring Out the Old, Ring In the New! intensive class. I’ve got some fun new transitions planned as well as some chakra, bandha and pranayama work. We are gonna peel the layers off and sweat it out! Sweating is an awesome way to detox the body! Speaking of detox, I have joined forces with The Fresh Press juice bar, only a few blocks away from the Portsmouth studio. They will be handing out discounted coupons for their juice cleanse consisting of 5 18oz. organic, freshly pressed juices. PS – they are scrumptious!!!
This weekend, wring out all the negativity you may be carrying with you from 2014 or any prior year. Wring out all those voices that say “I can’t, I won’t, I don’t.” Wring out the anticipations, judgments, expectations, ego and champagne. Ring in celebration, joy, love, new goals, new friends and a clean slate. This intensive is the perfect time to really start fresh and leave it all behind.
For 2015, I will have the intention (or resolution if you will) to always live in the present. “If you are living in the past, you are depressed, if you are living in the future, you are anxious, but it you are in the present, you are at peace.” That simple, but TRUE, quote is my mantra for 2015. There are times in my life where I have to remember that I, as a yoga teacher, am also human too. I freak out at things I can’t control and it is so easy for my unnecessary thoughts to avalanche in a messy situation that calls for tissues. I have learned to be present on my mat, but off my mat has definitely been a challenge. Day by day I know this challenge will turn into a habit.
I also know that I, like you, am capable of manifesting what I want in my life. So why worry? It is only attracting those negative thoughts. So here’s to celebrating life thus far, savoring the sweet relationships in your life and starting 2015 with a bang! Happy New Years all!
Cost is $20 for members and students, $25 non-members, $30 day of event. or register at any studio or over the phone. There are no refunds or exchanges for this class.
