Mindful Yoga and Meditation

Free yourself from stress and anxiety. The workshop intends to provide yogis a unique experience to explore a deeper level of yoga with mindful movements and a sitting and standing meditation. This 1.5 hour session will guide yogis into experimenting the possibilities of peace and freedom through awareness and connectivity to their body, their mind and heart. The collective merits of this event will allow yogis to take away their direct experiences and integrate the skills into real life and relationships to cope with stress, pain and fear more effectively.

Class will be 45 minutes of Vinyasa Yoga led by Keith Calderone and 45 minutes of standing and sitting meditation led by Jiong Jiong Hu. Jiong Jiong is a 3 Bridges member and teacher of Insight meditation for over 5 years.

Yoga for a Happy Back

One of the best things of a steady yoga practice is a healthy, happy spine. And that usually means a healthy happy person! In this workshop, you’ll learn how yoga can help your back, and help you maintain back flexibility and strength. This workshop is for everybody (if you’ve got back pain or not), including beginners and seasoned practitioners. The first half will be hands on learning about your spine’s anatomy and the second half will be a yoga practice designed to use what we’ve learned to strengthen and mobilize your spine.

The spine is your lifeline and what holds you up all day long. Give yourself skills and tools to help keep that spine healthy and happy.

Yoga for a Happy Back will be led by 500 hour RYT and 3BY teacher Gretchen Lamothe. Gretchen has studied extensively on the anatomy and functionality of the spine. Energy Medicine Yoga

We are very excited to welcome visiting yoga teacher, author, and founder of Energy Medicine Yoga, Lauren Walker to 3 Bridges. She is the author of Energy Medicine Yoga: Amplify the Healing Power of Your Yoga Practice (Sounds True, 2014) and The Energy Medicine Yoga Prescription (Sounds True, 2017). She’s been teaching yoga and meditation since 1997 and created Energy Medicine Yoga while teaching at Norwich University. She was recently named one of the top 100 most influential yoga teachers in America.

Lauren will be at the Portsmouth studio on Sunday May 21st for two workshops.

9:30am-12:00pm, Intro to EMYoga for All Levels and Students

In EMYoga, you’ll learn asana practices (physical postures) that incorporate poses and moves to access your underlying energy. Some of the poses look similar to yoga poses you may already be familiar with. Others will be complete departures from standard yoga and are used to influence specific flows of energy. You’ll use the electromagnetic energy of your own body, often with your hands, to affect the energy in your body. The class will also incorporate pranayama (breathing practices), meditation and visualization,. The beauty of energy work is that it translates into every facet of your life—from what, how, and when you eat to how you think and how you feel about your body, mind, and life.

In this workshop, you will learn the basic underlying theories and principles behind EMYoga. You’ll come away with some basic skills to teach to your classes to help them improve their understanding of energy in the body. There will be both practice and lecture so be sure to bring your pen and journal.
