Ask, believe, receive

On

I swear this whole journey with yoga fell into place perfectly. After being introduced to Bikram years ago, I took my passion for yoga with me as I moved across the country to Huntington Beach, California. For a Christmas present, my grandfather got me my very first yoga mat and a month pass to Core Power Yoga. I made a vow to myself that I was going to go every single day. And I did. The shifts mentally, physically and spiritually forever changed my life. I’ll never forget the day I fully surrendered everything and was submerged in that sweet moment of pure potentiality. “Everything is going to be okay.”

During my practice I was introduced to “The Secret” and the connection was so organic, I knew that I would be carrying it with me for the rest of my life. For those of you who are not familiar with “The Secret”, it is all about the law of attraction and intention. Ask, believe and you shall receive. (They even made an easy to watch movie about it!) The universe, or law of attraction, eventually bounces all your thoughts, intentions and mental images back to you. Basically you hold the power of how your life turns out. Sounds a little hocus pocus and new-agey, doesn’t it?

But, the power of intention is important and real. In the beginning of a yoga class, a teacher often offers you to set an intention. What do you want to cultivate? What is your goal? What is your focus? You are fully capable of attracting EVERYTHING that you had ever dreamed for. When you close your eyes to set that intention, ask for it daily with absolutely zero doubt. Believe it so much that you can see (feel) yourself in that pose, place, person, goal, whatever it is you asked for. Patience and presence allows us to grow individually. And isn’t that what life is about? Continuing on our own journey and realizing our full potential.

Life can be tough and suffering is inevitable but thankfully we have a yoga practice. At times you have to remember that everything is really going to be ok and that the universe is listening. Smile, stay positive, ask for things you want, believe in what you want and whether it be a day or years later, the universe will always find a way to bounce it back to you.

Om Shanti, Shanti Shanti

“Quantum mechanics confirms it. Quantum cosmology confirms it. The universe essentially emerges from thought and all of this matter around us is just precipitated thought. Ultimately we are the source of the universe, and when we understand that power directly by experience, we can start to exercise our authority and begin to achieve more and more. Create anything.”
